TV Time alternatives in 2026: six trackers compared

We make Trackpile, one of the apps compared here. We stick to facts you can check, link every app so you can judge for yourself, and say where another app does something better.

When TV Time closed, its app left the App Store and Google Play and its export tool went offline the same day. If you used it to keep your place in a dozen shows, you need somewhere new to do that. If you saved your export before the deadline, you'll also want an app that can read it.

This page compares six trackers people are moving to. They're grouped by what each does best rather than ranked, because the right one depends on what you used TV Time for.

We looked at what matters when you're leaving TV Time: whether an app can read the export you saved, what it tracks besides TV, which devices it runs on, and what the free version leaves out. Every claim below comes from the app's own website, help pages or store listing, checked on the date at the top of this page. Each name links to the app's site so you can check for yourself.

If you saved your TV Time export

TV Time's export was a zip file of spreadsheets that you requested before the shutdown. Keep it exactly as it arrived: most importers want the zip itself, not the files inside it.

What comes across differs from app to app. Your watch history transfers everywhere; comments, reactions and other social activity generally don't.

If you didn't download an export before 15 July 2026, it can no longer be requested, and no app can recover that history. You'll be starting fresh, so favor an app that lets you mark a whole season watched in one go.

Trakt: best for automatic tracking

Trakt is the longest-running tracker here and sits at the center of a large set of connected apps. Media center add-ons and many third-party apps can log what you play to your Trakt history without you lifting a finger. Its own iPhone and Android apps were rebuilt and relaunched in January 2026.

• Tracks: shows and movies.
• TV Time import: yes, on the website under Settings, then Data, from the export zip. Trakt says watch history, watchlist and ratings come across; comments, reactions and social activity don't.
• Free vs paid: core tracking is free. The free plan caps your watchlist at 250 items and allows 5 personal lists of up to 250 items each. VIP, the paid plan, raises those limits and adds more tools.
• Worth knowing: if your TV Time watchlist was long, check it against the 250-item cap before you import.

Simkl: best for anime alongside TV and movies

Simkl tracks TV, anime and movies in one account, with anime treated as its own category rather than filed under TV. Like Trakt, it can track automatically from supported apps and media players.

• Tracks: shows, anime and movies.
• TV Time import: yes, from the export zip — but Simkl has temporarily limited TV Time and Trakt imports to PRO and VIP supporters while it scales up after TV Time's shutdown. Your export file won't expire, so a free account can wait and import once that reopens.
• Free vs paid: free with ads. Paid PRO and VIP plans remove the ads and add extras.
• Worth knowing: if most of what you watch is anime, this is the app that treats it as a first-class category.

Serializd: best for rating and reviewing TV

Serializd is built around opinions. You can rate and review individual episodes and seasons, keep a diary of what you watched, and follow friends to see what they think.

• Tracks: shows only.
• TV Time import: yes, and free, like everything else on Serializd.
• Price: free.
• Worth knowing: it doesn't track movies, so film fans will need a second app.

Bingers: best for a TV Time-style community

Bingers comes from Antonio Pinto, one of TV Time's co-founders, and launched on 4 August 2026. Alongside tracking shows and movies, anime included, it brings back TV Time's community side: rate episodes, vote for favorite characters and emotions, and read what other fans are saying, spoiler-free.

• Runs on: iPhone and Android.
• TV Time import: yes, from the export archive.
• Price: free, with no in-app purchases.
• Worth knowing: it's the newest app here, and it's phone-only.

SeriesGuide: best for open-source Android, no account needed

SeriesGuide is an open-source Android app for shows and movies. It doesn't need an account (you can back your library up to a file instead), and it carries no ads: subscribers fund it, not advertisers.

• Tracks: shows and movies.
• Runs on: Android only.
• TV Time import: not directly. Import your zip into Trakt first, then connect SeriesGuide to your Trakt account.
• Price: free. An optional subscription supports development and unlocks SeriesGuide Cloud for syncing between devices.
• Worth knowing: there's no iPhone version.

Trackpile: best for shows, movies and games in one place

Trackpile is ours. Follow a show, tap an episode watched, and the next one moves up; an Upcoming tab lists the episodes on the way, grouped by day. Movies and games have their own tabs in the same account, and so does a shelf for any figures you collect. Everything syncs between the web, iPhone, iPad and Android.

• Tracks: shows (anime included), movies, games and figures.
• TV Time import: yes, from the export zip, under Settings, then Data, then Import from TV Time. It brings across watch history, followed shows, custom lists and movies.
• Price: free. A paid Plus tier is planned but isn't available yet.
• Your data: export everything as a single backup file at any time.
• Worth knowing: there's no Trakt import or sync yet, no new-episode notifications yet, and no comments or social feed. If you need those today, Trakt or Bingers is the better fit.

Which one should you pick?

• You want tracking to happen by itself: Trakt, or Simkl.
• You watch a lot of anime: Simkl.
• You want to rate and talk about episodes: Serializd, or Bingers for a community closer to TV Time's.
• You're on Android and want something open source, ad-free and account-free: SeriesGuide.
• You also track games, or a collection: Trackpile.
